Tory Minister jokes about Steven Gerrard’s Euro Exit for Rangers

A TORY GOVERNMENT MINISTER yesterday made a Brexit joke about The Rangers exit from Europe and it didn’t go down too well with Scotland’s Shame.

The rather loathsome Michael Gove poked fun at the Ibrox club after they lost 1-0 to Rapid Vienna on Thursday night to crash out of the Europa League after their fans spent the past few months singing about reaching the Final in May next year.

Speaking in Glasgow at a Scottish Journalists charity event yesterday the Environment Secretary cracked this gag.

“It’s a particular pleasure to be in Glasgow.

“As you may know I am not a Rangers fan, but I am looking forward to talking to Steven Gerrard later.

“He’ll be able to explain to me how you can exit from Europe before Christmas in good order.”

One Blued Nosed Bear didn’t see the funny side though.

“Ministers should be more concerned about making sure Britain leaves the EU. I dare say some fans will not be very happy about it.”

Gove was raised in Aberdeen but apparently supports QPR. He used to work for Scottish Television as a broadcast journalist before entering politics.

Rangers won only one of their six matches in the Europa League Group G and finished in third position, four points behind both group winners Villareal and runners up Rapid Vienna. Both these sides achieved 10 points to qualify.

Rangers exited the Betfred Cup to Aberdeen at the semi-final stage, with the Dons losing to Celtic in the final.
