Tottenham’s move for Madrid left back could allow Ryan Sessengon to join Celtic

TOTTENHAM are on the verge of completing a deal for Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon. The 23-year-old is the subject of negotiations with Jose Mourinho’s side and this deal could offer Neil Lennon as solution for his left-back hunt.

Ryan Sessengon, the £25m signing from Fulham last summer, is said to be ready to be loaned out with a number of options interested in bringing him to their club. Celtic were reportedly interested in Sessegnon back in August according to the Athletic.

The recently departed Bolingoli’s antics meant that Greg Taylor was the only first team left back at the club after Jonny Hayes and Calvin Miller left in the summer. Sessegnon represents a player that the club would otherwise not afford but would fit perfectly into the side – doing on the left what Jeremie Frimpong does on the left.

With 120 appearances to his name during his time at Fulham, Sessegnon boasts an impressive 25 goals and 18 assists. Although game time in London dried up as the manager that signed him Mauricio Pochettino was replaced by Jose Mourinho. It was the Portuguese manager that gave him some opportunities as injuries hampered Spurs last season. In 12 appearances, he got one goal and one assist so will be looking to get game time.

Barry Douglas, Alfie Doughty and Mitchel Bakker have been touted as a possible signings but so far, Taylor remains the only player in the left back position. The Scottish Champions also need to add another central defender and a right winger in the next few weeks.
