Transfer Latest – Aussie keeper being monitored by Celtic

Brendan Rodgers is looking at bringing in a new goalkeeper in this summer’s transfer window, with the Celtic manager previously stating that there could be a total revamp of the area of the squad. Joe Hart is set to retire, whilst Scott Bain is rarely called upon and Benjamin Seigrist is surplus to requirements at the club.

Celtic are apparently willing to listen to offers for the Swiss goalkeeper who was signed on a free transfer a couple of seasons ago. In fairness, most would agree with that hypothesis that it would be no great loss should the manager bring in three entirely new faces to play between the sticks for the team next campaign, as apart from Hart, neither of the other two have given us anything.

Links are appearing daily now with agents no doubt briefing media outlets in the hope of drumming up interest in their respective clients as we head to the climax of the footballing season. The Bhoys have been linked with numerous shot-stoppers lately, including Turkish international Ugurcan Çakir, who plays for Tabzonspor in his homeland, and Michael Zetterer, who is currently in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen respectively.

Now today a report has appeared in Australia, saying that Middlesbrough’s Tom Glover is being monitored by the Scottish Premiership Champions after a sterling season in the English Championship.

The 26-year-old is yet to be capped by his homeland but has won three A-League titles Down Under, which prompted the English club to bring him to the British game. It also states that our fierce rivals are taking a look at Glover, which always causes skepticism whenever a transfer story with the Bhoys is concerned.

It’s going to be interesting to see who we land regardless…

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.

  1. I disagree about Scott Bain. He has never let us down and would have been our number one if we hadn’t signed big Joe.

  2. John Feggans on

They say a week in football is a long time, last week’s “moral victory” becomes a “moral defeat” for big Phil despite still getting their usual dodgy penalty. Well deserved by Ross County and shows just how over rated this theRangers team are. Southgate will be looking at Butland and seeing 6 goals conceded in 2 games? Dont dig out your passport Jack.
