Transfer Latest – Celtic on cusp of signing Bayern Munich star Christopher Scott

Publication Ghana Soccer have today run with the exclusive that Celtic are close to signing young Bayern Munich rising star, Christopher Scott. Celtic were linked in January with a cut-price move for the German player of Ghanian descent, although nothing concrete materialised as it turned out.

Now the African orientated outlet has claimed Ange Postecoglou will land the promising talent on a deal worth just £250,000. There has been no end of interest in the services of Scott, with Brentford and Austrian club SK Austria Klagenfurt really keen on the youngster.

Now though it looks as though the Hoops may have moved ahead in the queue for Christopher, with the player also reportedly intrigued by a move to Glasgow’s East End. His contract was up this month, with any club wishing to sign him merely put up a nominal development fee of £250K.

The veracity of the story is yet to be confirmed, however, if it does turn out to be true the club has played a blinder with this signing. At just 19-years-old the ceiling of potential will be incalculable, having been so highly thought of in Germany at one of the biggest club sides in the world.

The report reads:

“Scottish champions Celtic are close to signing German-born Ghanaian Christopher Scott in the summer transfer window, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively report.

“The 19-year-old, who turns 20 in three days time, could leave Bayern Munich for the Parkhead outfit if they meet the German giant’s asking price of £250,000.

“The teen sensation is also on the radar of Austrian club SK Austria Klagenfurt but Celtic remain favourites to sign the youngster. Scott was born to Ghanaian parents in Cologne, Germany and started his career at Bayer Leverkusen before moving to the Bundesliga giants.

“However, he has made only two senior appearances, which came at the end of last season.

“He is yet to feature for Julian Naglessman’s side but has been a key member of the youth team this season in the Regionalliga.

Christopher Scott has scored six goals and provided six assists in 15 games in the fourth division in Germany. The teen sensation’s contract expires in June allowing him to leave on a free transfer.”

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
