Transfer Latest – Ghana Soccer claims Celtic watching Semenyo

With news emerging tonight from Ghanasoccernet.com that Celtic are close to tying up a deal for Christopher Scott, the very same publication has claimed that the Bhoys are very much keen on fellow Ghanaian, Antoine Semenyo.

Semenyo, 22, of Bristol City, made his international bow this week for Ghana against Madagascar. The attacker has managed 8 goals and 12 assists in the English Championship this year for the Robins. Now he is attracting admiring glances from the Premier League and beyond.

Ange Postecoglou is eager to add another striker to his roster after deeming Albian Ajeti surplus to requirements. The Swiss attacker was unable to lead the line on his own well enough this season, despite scoring a few goals in the games he started. Unfortunately he is one of those strikers that just needs a partner to flourish properly and hasn’t gotten that at Celtic Park.

The only drawback has been the reported sums of money Bristol have mooted. Some have suggested they could be looking for as high as £20 million for the newly capped Ghana star – a ridiculous amount of money considering he plays in the Championship.

Whether there is concrete interest in the goalscorer from Ange Postecoglou and the scouting team at Parkhead remains to be seen. No moves have yet been made in the transfer market so far, with Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers deals taking priority over everything else at the minute. That’s not to say that Ange doesn’t have the Bristol player in mind when it comes to tooling up for this year’s Champions League.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
