Transfer Latest: Celtic sign Arzani on 2 year loan deal from Manchester City

CELTIC today completed the deal to bring Australian internationalist, Daniel Arzani, to the club on a two-year loan deal from Manchester City.

The deal remains subject to international clearance but that should be a formality.

The highly rated 19 year old was the youngest player to feature at the World Cup this summer. In a complex move he signed for Manchester City from Melbourne City before being loaned to Celtic for 2 years. Celtic are believed to have an option to buy or a percentage cut on any future transfer, as a return for developing the player.

Arzani spoke to the official Celtic site after completing his move to the Scottish Champions.

“Celtic is a massive club with a great history and one of the best followings in the world, so I’m looking forward to getting started,” the young Australian star said.

“The idea was put to me to come to Celtic and work with Brendan Rodgers, and it was something I was very interested in doing, and when it became a reality, I was very excited.

“I’ve had a couple of chats with the manager, more about when I’m coming and when I’ll get started, but I’ll have more chats with him after I settle into the club. But, for me, it’s about coming here, doing the best that I can and helping the club as much as possible.”

Daniel revealed that he’s delighted to be joining up with fellow Aussie Tom Rogic – who has agreed to mentor him during his time in Scotland and the new Celt revealed he’s been speaking to his fellow countryman about all things Celtic.

“I gave Tom a call and had a chat with him about the club and everything was positive.

“Basically he said to me that if it wasn’t so good, he wouldn’t have signed an extension to stay at Celtic Park. Apparently, playing in front of the Celtic fans is absolutely amazing and I’m really excited about that.

“All of Celtic’s home games look absolutely amazing. The scenes at the game are unbelievable, and I love it when the crowd gets behind me. I’m an attacking player. I love to take players on and hopefully I can bring some of that to the team.”

Brendan Rodgers has already noted that Arzani hasn’t played since the World Cup and that he will have to assess the player for fitness before determining when he will be ready to be involved in the first team.
