Transfer Latest – Hazard’s Monday medical, £150k transfer from Celtic set to be sealed

Conor Hazard will undergo a medical at Plymouth Argyle tomorrow ahead of completing a £150,000 move from Celtic. The Northern Ireland international goalkeeper has been fourth choice keeper at Celtic since returning from a successful loan spell in Finland at HJK Helsinki where he won the 2022 Veikkausliiga title.

After a series of earlier loans across numerous Scottish clubs – he even went on loan to Dundee twice – the goalkeeper, who starred for Celtic in 2020 Scottish Cup Final penalty shoot-out against Hearts, helping Celtic complete unique achievement in world football of winning a quadruple treble, decided that he didn’t want any further loan deals and sat things out at Celtic throughout 2023, being seen as part of the warm-up team for first pick goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Anthony Joseph at Sky Sports reported on Plymouth’s interest in signing Hazard earlier in the week stating: “Plymouth Argyle are in talks to sign Celtic goalkeeper Conor Hazard. It’s understood a fee of around £150,000 is being discussed.”

In a further update this morning Joseph reports: “Update: Northern Ireland international goalkeeper Conor Hazard is due to undergo a medical at Plymouth Argyle tomorrow, ahead of his move from Celtic. It’s understood the fee will be in the region of £150,000.”

Recently promoted to the Championship, Plymouth Argyle will be getting an established international goalkeeper who has won major honours in both Scotland and Finland. You’d expect that their target for the season will be survival and their keeper is going to have a busy old campaign ahead of him. Signing Conor Hazard for such a small sum of money, will see them safe hands.

Hopefully this deal foes through without a hitch as it looks great for all parties involved. Best of luck to Conor down at Plymouth.
