Transfer Report: Celtic bid €3.5M for Aaron Hickey

Celtic have reported bid €3.5M for Bologna right back Aaron Hickey. The former Celtic Academy star broke into the Hearts first team after making the move to Tynecastle from Celtic and was the subject of numerous Celtic bids last summer, before opting to go to play in Italy. The report from Sorts Journalist Nicolo Schira states that the Italian side have received the Celtic offer for their former player.

Celtic had a substantial sell-on clause in that deal with Hearts but will still be out of pocket through having let the player leave in the first place. Hickey though appears to have developed his game further in Italian football, having stated last summer that the time wasn’t right for a return to Paradise. His comments earlier this week suggested that he was now much keener on joining up once again with the club he supports and you have to admit that giving Celtic a short term body swerve last season wasn’t the worst decision a player could have made!

Ange Postecoglou arrived at Celtic’s training ground today to meet the players there and the staff. He’s no doubt be well aware of the developments in this long term task of bringing Hickey home.
