West Ham set to sign Celtic youngster on free transfer

Celtic look set to lose Armstrong OkoFlex with Premier League side West Ham nearing an agreement to sign the 19-year-old. The Republic of Ireland youth Internationalist has failed to make an impact at Celtic since joining from Arsenal’s Academy nearly three years ago but now he looks set to return to London.

Okoflex joined the club in September 2018 from Arsenal and was given his first sample of first team football under Brendan Rodgers when he was named on the bench for the late win over Killie in Feb 2019. He was involved in the games against Hibs and Livi earlier this year after the Dubai fiasco.

The player has, according to The Glasgow Times, travelled to London for talks with West Ham as they look to secure the signing of the youth prospect. David Moyes is said to rate the player highly and even sees him as a potential first team squad player for next season.

The player has struggled with the lack of first team opportunities as well as irregular reserve football. Hopefully he will be able to find his feet elsewhere and act as another example of Celtic’s Academy helping to improve young talent, even if he sees himself away from the club.
