Treble Target: Josip Juranovic Aims To “Take Everything” This Season

Celtic full back Josip Juranovic is relatively new to life in Scottish football, but he has already got his hands on the Premier Sports Cup. The Croatian international joined the club on the back of a torrid campaign last season, but understands that a decade of dominance had preceded that appalling campaign.

Speaking to the Daily Record yesterday, Juranovic said: “When I came here they said to me that Celtic is the club that wants the trophies and wants to take everything. That is my mentality and mindset too. When I came here I wanted to take everything.”

The Hoops lie six points behind top spot in the title race and face Alloa Athletic in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup next weekend. The opportunity of clinching a treble is still available, though most fans are simply focused on clawing back the league title and earning the Champions League bounty that comes with that achievement.

Clinching the title will be no easy task and Juranovic feels Celtic “need to beat everybody to take the trophy back.”

Injury concerns have hampered the team throughout this season, but the additions of three Japanese Bhoys in January have done much to add depth to the squad. When asked about the trio, Josip said: “You will see them on Monday! They are good guys and can play really good football. They have quality and it’s because of that they are here. I cannot wait to see them in full action.”

Celtic will need the players firing on all cylinders as they look to make up ground in the title race. The first task awaiting them is the visit of Hibs tomorrow night. The Hibees are likely to be tricky customers with former Celt Shaun Maloney returning to Paradise in the opposition dugout.

And for those who missed this one on The Celtic Star, here’s a catch-up chance to check out the photographs given to this site by the former Celtic Director Tom Grant of the demolition of the old Celtic Park and in its place the emergence of the New Celtic Park which we know and love today. These photographs are fascinating and well worth checking out on the link below…
