Turnbull turnaround as Celtic win race

DAVID TURBULL last night agreed to sign for Celtic rather than Norwich City. Until he’s pictured wearing the Hoops top some supporters will not fully believe that it’s happening and who could blame them?

Turnbull through his agent rejected Celtic’s deal earlier this week and he club made it known to the media that they had officially ended their interest in signing the Motherwell teenager. Within hours it became clear why that happened when Norwich City had a £3.25million bid accepted by Motherwell.

Turnbull then travelled down to Carrow Road for his medical and to discuss personal terms. John Kennedy held a media conference at Lennoxtown and spoke openly and honestly about the Turnbull situation and the player liked one of the Celtic tweets reporting on what the assistant manager was saying.

Turnbull was offered more money at Norwich City – crucially a more significent factor for his agent than the player himself – and while being impressed by everything he saw at Norwich, he decided that Celtic was indeed to place where his football could be better developed.

Norwich were looking at loaning Turnbull out and he could have been back at Motherwell until the end of the year. Now though he’ll be playing in the Scottish Premiership for the Champions in green and white hoops.

Unless something else happens!

The Daily Record report this from ‘sources close to the deal'(presumably the agent)…“David was blown away by the people at Norwich, by what they had to offer and by the pathway they have for their young players. They made him feel really welcome. And yes, he’d have been making more money in the EPL.

“But right now, at 19, he feels Celtic is the right football move for him – and that’s the most important part of any decision he makes.”
