Van Veen for Player of the Year – With split Celtic opinions it could happen

Van Veen for player of the year? With split Celtic opinions it could be. It mirrors the 2012/13 awards...

PFA Scotland Player of the Year nominees are in for the Scottish Premiership and it’s a four man short list of Celtic trio of Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Kyogo joined by Motherwell’s Dutch striker Kevin Van Veen is the other name nominated and the odd man out which might just work in his favour.

It should be of course be Kyogo in my opinion, Reo and Callum have of course done well, but the wee man has been outstanding this campaign. It’s just got to be him. He’s undoubtedly the best finisher in the league, but with opinion split between our trio of champions support for Van Veen, the big Dutchman could easily turn out to be a surprise winner with theRangers players across the league voting for the Motherwell striker.

It mirrors our 2012/13 double winning season when Celtic were also comfortably the best side in the country, and despite dominating the Player of the Year awards Motherwell striker Michael Higdon scooped the player of the accolade despite Charlie Mulgrew, Stefan Johansson and Kris Commons having tremendous campaigns.

Will history repeat itself?

Kevin Van Veen scoring success at Motherwell this season is the reason why they dragged themselves off the bottom of the league to safety and it’s more than likely that he’ll be getting a big money move this summer, but where to?  Parkhead or Ibrox?

  1. If van veen wins the vote then he deserves the award, it can’t always be about Celtic or on occasions The Rangers.
The work required from other teams players is enormous.
    Just congratulate the winner.
