‘Victory in Europe: A Celebration has been Reported,’ David Potter

By no means the easiest “watch” I have ever had in my life, but we pulled through and the job was done. Oh, but why does it always have to be so tense?

Even Chris Sutton’s anxiety was tangible, and the toilet was a necessary port of call at full time. Talking about the toilet, I await an explanation of tonight’s strip! The green and white would surely have been more of a contrast to the Norwegian white!

But the counter argument to criticism of tonight’s performance, of course, is “What are you moaning about?”

“They won, didn’t they?” Yes, indeed they did and for that we must count ourselves to be blest, especially as the other result means that a draw will be sufficient against Salzburg at Celtic Park in a fortnight’s time.

But please, Celtic, try to win it!

But Salzburg is a fortnight away and at this time of the season, that is light years in the distance. We have to hope that Lustig and Forrest are not badly injured for Sunday, for we will need them Forrest, in particular.

Was not that just a superb piece of play by Jamesie that led to the goal? And a good header by Sinclair as well!

My man of the match was Filip Benkovic who was superb throughout. Boyata too, to a certain extent, and Callum McGregor also kept a grip on things as well. Tom Rogic was strong throughout, but I felt that he should have shot oftener.

Edouard was not so good tonight, often being a bit clumsy and slow, but yet you always feel there is a goal in him. Ryan Christie had a good first half but disappeared a little in the second half, and must learn the noble art of keeping his mouth shut sometimes!

The main thing is that we won.

One wishes Rosenborg well in the Norwegian Cup final. They have a few good players, although Bendtner always produces a lot less than he promises. The game was well refereed and it was nice to see a game being handled by a man with a smile on his face.

And how lovely to see Harald Brattbakk again!

Never the most clinical of goal scorers (to put it mildly) but a nice chap, who now apparently flies aeroplanes as well.

So, onwards and upwards, Celtic! Sunday approaches, but we can talk about that tomorrow! Tonight we can celebrate a Victory in Europe.
