Video – Ange Postecoglou discusses the Rangers match and gives transfer update

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou spoke to the Mainstream Media this afternoon ahead of Sunday’s visit across the city to play theRangers and The Den of No Equity. There’s questions about how impressive theRangers were last season and whether Celtic should fear the Ibrox side as Ange is reminded that Celtic have not won a Glasgow Derby in the last six matches.

You start to wonder if Dom McKay has joined the Ibrox club in taking £25k from theRangers supporters so that they get to ask questions at these Media Conferences. Ange does his usual job of dealing with anything that they can throw at him and shuts down talk that Celtic are underdogs going into this game, saying that Celtic are NEVER underdogs and go into every game expecting to win. Postecoglou though does praise theRangers for their performances last year, giving them absolutely nothing to pin on their dressing room door.

There’s an update on injuries after last night and Greg Taylor’s should issues isn’t thought to be too serious so he stands a chance of playing, however unlikely that seems. On the two James’ who missed the trip to Holland – McCarthy and Forrest – one at least is expected to be available for Sunday and Ange notes that new Bhoy Josip Juranovic – who was cup-tied last night having played on the Play-offs for Legia Warsaw – will be available for Sunday.

Kyogo, the Celtic manager confirms, is dealing with the usual bumps and bruises as he notes that teams are finding ‘creative ways’ to stop the Japanese striker. It would take long on Sunday before Kyogo gets his welcome to Ibrox kick. I’d give it 3 minutes…

( Liam Scales could also come into contention especially given the left back situation although Adam Montgomery was outstanding against AK Alkmaar and surely would be given his chance?). On the transfer window Ange confirms that the club are still working on a few things but admits he’s one step removed at the moment giving the busy schedule of crucial games.

Both Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie were specifically mentioned by the manager and Ange noted the contribution made by each last night and noted Christie’s celebrations at the final whistle.

Interesting as always from Ange, have a listen…

  1. To be honest Montgomery look a far better player than Taylor and would be my first choice anyway.
