Video – Ange Postecoglou’s Media Conference now with fan media included

The stand-out point as Ange Postecoglou spoke to the media today ahead of the League Cup semi-final against holders St Johnstone on Saturday isn’t what the Celtic manager had to say or indeed any of the questions that were asked.

Instead the main take-away point to note is that this was not just the mainstream media asking their often “condescending’ questions but instead the Celtic Fan Media are there and the last two journalists speaking to Ange are not from the red-tops, the BBC or the radio stations but instead are from the Celtic Fan Media.

Earlier in the week Ange spent around an hour speaking to the Celtic Fan Media in what was one of two really interesting videos of the Celtic manager this week, the other being his interview with an Australian broadcaster (see both below). There’s a different tone in both and Ange is much more open and relaxed than we are so used to seeing when he’s having to deal with the often disrespectful hacks.

After the fan media conference with the Celtic manager on Monday the club were pleased with the way it panned out and pushed ahead with an agreement that had been reached with the fan media to invite two representatives along to every media conference both before games and indeed after each home match.

The idea is to rotate these places among the various fan media websites, podcast and channels so that each outlet will get n opportunity to represent the Celtic Support at the media conferences. The Celtic Star will be speaking to Ange post-match after of the next league match against Aberdeen on 28 November and then will be at the media conference ahead of the game against Hibs at the end of December.

Note that for away games the Celtic Fan Media will not be represented at the post-match conferences.

Listening to day’s media conference – and all season we have been highlighting that it has been a Mainstream media conference up until today – and there’s a mainstream media question relating to what was supposedly said at the AGM yesterday about Ange and Michael Nicolson working together to appoint a Director of Football.

Now there was more than enough controversy yesterday in what was said without having to go to the trouble of making stuff up to try to catch Ange out. Remarkable really. Ange doesn’t miss the hack in putting him in his place.

For the fan media questioning Ange is more relaxed and its more like a conversation about Celtic. Well done to the guys today. A job well done.
