Video: Brendan Rodgers delivers mixed news injury update

The official Celtic YouTube page has uploaded the full Celtic media conference with Brendan Rodgers, which took place yesterday.

In this clip, the Celtic manager gives  a news update on a few recent Celtic injuries, as well as replying to various questions involving whether any players are likely to leave, or the details of where Celtic are currently at as a club.

Rodgers reveals the good news that Cameron Carter-Vickers is doing very well and is now out on the pitch training with the Bhoys. “Cameron is doing well after the surgery. He’s out on the pitch. He looks strong. He’s progressing and is well on schedule,” the Celtic manager said.

On the other hand, Alistair Johnson has undergone surgery following his return to Celtic. Rodgers reckons his injury will last 6-8 weeks. His name-sake Mikey Johnston is also injured and will be sidelined for a few months with a back injury. And new signing Marco Tilio is also out as he was carrying an injury that Celtic were aware of when signing for the Hoops.

Brendan said: “Marco had an issue when we signed him, we knew of it. He’ll miss the start of the season as he got injured with Australia. He’s an exciting winger. He fits the profile and he’ll do very well.”

Tilio will have his own fitness targets but will certainly want to be fit and in contention for the Champions League campaign. He said this when he arrived at the club.

“At Melbourne, it was all about winning trophies and I have some experience of doing that so I hope I can bring it here. It’s a massive bonus playing in the Champions League. It’s a dream and to be part of a team that’s going into that tournament is amazing and hopefully, I can present myself on that stage too.”
