1988 really was a special year for Celtic fans. The club celebrated its centenary season with a domestic double, the Scottish Cup being won in dramatic last gasp circumstances. In an era with huge crowds, terracing and no mobile phones, it was special to enjoy the moment. However, there is very little footage of the fans as a result.
I stumbled across this absolute gem on Youtube this afternoon. It shows Celtic fans singing and enjoying themselves in the Royal Oak, Cavendish, Levernwater.
The singing begins at approximately 2 minutes 20 seconds in.
You can enjoy the old songbook, some of which have made a comeback. Piling on the Agony and Sean South seem to be the favourites, whilst On The One Road/Soldiers Song and a host of other familiar chants can be heard.
Enjoy!
