Video: Celtic fans in striking pre-match pyro display against Feyenoord

Celtic were beaten last night in the UEFA Champions League Group G opener against Feyenoord. The Dutch Champions were 2-0 winners over the Scottish Champions in a frustrating evening for Brendan Rodgers’ team.

However, there were thousands of Celtic supporters that made the trip to the historic venue and will have certainly enjoyed their trip regardless of the result. Before the game, the Green Brigade’s Pyrotechnics flag was flying suggesting that there would be some degree of display. The group and those involved certainly did not let down as a stunning flashing pyro display was produced in the Celtic end.

Ironically, a ‘No Smoking’ banner flashed up on the stadium’s big screen.

It was a stunning display but given UEFA’s attitude towards pyrotechnics, it may incur a fine. This may be the driving force behind Celtic’s decision to block the group from setting up tifos for the Champions League home games. It is a real shame as the tifos help to enhance the European Nights under the lights at Paradise. Hopefully a re-think in this regard will occur with parties finding a common ground.
