Video – Celtic fan’s ‘Piling on the Agony’ Lockdown Song for Ten-in-a-Row

HAVE A LOOK at this. You might remember some of the elderly members of the Dennistoun CSC singing the original version of this song that’s a tribute to Celtic’s 7-1 League Cup Final win over the old Rangers on 19 October 1957 – and they sang the original version beautifully, becoming an instant hit on twitter back in 2018 when it was posted.

Now during the Coronavirus Lockdown and in the week that Celtic clinched 9-in-a-Row, the lyrics have been changed, updated and ready for Ten-in-a-Row. Have a listen, it’s brilliant!

Here’s that brilliant rendition of the original version from the Dennistoun CSC…

And here’s a version with the lyrics included…

During the Invincible season the Celtic support were at their most creative in terms of creating new songs for the team – the Scotty Sinclair and Stuart Armstrong songs were creative, clever and copied by the supporters of Southampton and Preston NE when the two Invincible Celts moved on.

Maybe we’re in need of a few more new songs, or like the one above, one re-writes of old classics. Linking the 7-1 game to our two 9IARs and aiming for Ten all on the eve of the anniversary of the day we won the greatest prize on 25 May 1967 certainly has our approval.

“Piling on the agony, putting on the style…” – well done that man!
