Video: Celtic’s always on his mind, Kris Boyd’s Wishful Freudian Slip

Today Sky Sports dragged out their residual pundits Kris Boyd and Andy Walker to preview the upcoming cinch Premiership League season as the official fixtures were released. As reported earlier on The Celtic Star, the Champions will begin their defence of the title at home to Aberdeen on flag day, whilst a tasty few days lies in store the first week in Spetember – as we play our Ibrox rivals and kick-off our Champions League campaign.

You raging mate?

But onto the main issue of the article; Kris Boyd’s Freudian slip. The two pundits were asked by interviewer Mark Benstead what their thoughts were regarding Robbie Neilson and his Hearts team next term. The Tyncastle outfit finished third in the league this year, miles behind theRangers in second place. However, they will be guaranteed European group stage football come next season due to Scotland’s refreshed five-year coefficient.

They will have an opportunity to make the Europa League through the qualifying rounds this summer. In failing that they should be straight into the group stage of the Europa Conference League’s second outing. Not at all to be sniffed at financially for Ann Budge and Robbie Neilson.

Whilst both couldn’t see the Gorgie outfit challenging Celtic or theRangers to the League crown this season, Boyd was his usual stuttering and stammering self – making us all wonder just how this man is employed to talk in front of a camera. It really does defy any conventional logic or wisdom him being the main punditry voice for Scottish football these days.

He often reminds me of Homer Simpson:

Anyway, enough of the social niceties.

The main reason for writing this was Boyd nearly made an embarrassing boo-boo, when he went to say that Hearts should “concentrate on being the best of the rest”, but actually very nearly said Celtic. You’ll notice at the end of the video he does a “Cel”, then quickly corrects his Freudian slip.

Wishful thinking there, Boydy.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.

  1. Seriously. Can’t believe you’ve raised a full article about a wee slip of the tongue.
