Video: Celtic’s Daizen Maeda scores first international goal for Japan

Celtic striker Daizen Maeda scored his first international goal for Japan in an impressive 4-1 win over Ghana in Kobe in the Kirin Cup match played earlier today. His Celtic team-mate Kyogo was rested for this penultimate match of a long season and a half for Maeda who will now be looking for more action in the final game of the season, against Tunisia on Tuesday.

Then it will be a well earned break for Daizen who will probably pass the time running half a dozen marathons.

Daizen, who recently completed his permanent move to Celtic after concluding his earlier loan spell at the club (it was always just a technicality), also took part in the kit-launch photoshoot for the away kit for next season, with the images being released this morning.

Here’s Maeda showing off the stunning kit…

And here’s his first ever international goal for Japan coming after 82 minutes…hopefully there are plenty more to come next season for club and country as Maeda eyes a World Cup call-up for Japan.
