Video: Charlie Mulgrew’s hilarious story after Celtic shocker

Former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew has told the story of how he reacted to the pressure during a poor spell at the club. When discussing Greg Taylor’s position at Celtic, Mulgrew told a brilliant story that had Marvin Bartley bent over double about how he ended up getting hooked at half-time in a European game.

Mulgrew is fondly remembered for his time at the club – playing left back, left wing, centre back and central midfield. He was a regular lieutenant under Neil Lennon during his first spell but the arrival of Brendan Rodgers resulted in the end of his time at Celtic.

Mulgrew was Lennon’s first signing in 2010 and played a variety of positions in his time at Celtic, including left wing in a win at Ibrox in 2011. He started his career at Celtic but after a loan move to Dundee United, he joined Aberdeen on a permanent basis. During his time at Pittodrie, he earned a move back to Celtic – scoring a sensational free kick at Celtic Park probably helped.

Mulgrew won five league titles and two Scottish Cups as well as winning the Player of the Year accolades in 2012 for a stunning season, in which he deputised as a central defender. The defender spent six years at Celtic, making 208 appearances and scoring 29 goals.
