Video: “Come here and score goals, that’s what you aim to do,” Charlie Wellings

Charlie Wellings missed out on Saturday afternoon in Celtic FC Women’s 4-0 SWPL1 win over Hibs at a sun drenched Celtic Park. The goal a game striker is the top goalscorer at the club this season with 27 goals and it was great to see her back at Celtic Park today talking to Celtic TV and looking back at her own personal Celtic Story so far in her first season at the club ahead of the vital Scottish Cup quarter final away to Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon.

Charlie names Jacynta as her best pal at the club and notes how physical the game in North of the Border, remarking that perhaps the referees don’t necessary blow for the fouls as often as they should! Her favourite goal – so far – was the stunning stoppage time winner against Hibs earlier in the season and her most memorable game was the League Cup quarter final win away to theRangers where Charlie got the only goal of the game and set Celtic on the road to cup glory, winning the League Cup at Firhill in early December.

Here are the highlights from that League Cup quarter final win over theRangers…

A young fan gets her shirt signed by matchwinner Charlie Wellings (#21) of Celtic Women FC during the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup match between Celtic Women and Hibernian at Forthbank Stadium, Stirling, Scotland on 14/11/2021.

The interview features plenty of match action showing the lethal finisher in action for Fran Alonso’s young Celtic team. While the main focus will be on the Glasgow Derby at the weekend, The Celtic Star will be providing comprehensive coverage of the Scottish Cup quarter final between Aberdeen Women and Celtic FC Women. If Charlie’s back Celtic’s chances just got better!
