Odsonne Edouard made it 1-1 after finding himself on the end of a Kris Ajer header as Celtic equalised from a corner. Minutes after going down to a Roofe goal and losing a man, Jonjoe Kenny forced a save from Allan McGregor.
The resulting corner came into the box and Ajer got a jump on the Rangers defender Jack Simpson, which allowed Edouard to bury the ball into the net and restore parity.
Celtic had been reduced to ten men when Callum MCGregor was shown a second yellow card as Rangers scored from the advantage.
