On This Day in 2004, Martin O’Neill’s side moved two wins away from the title with a win at Ibrox. Goals from Henrik Larsson and Alan Thompson sealed the points before Steven Thompson pulled one back for Alex McLeish’s team.
Celtic were utterly dominant and the goal after 20 minutes set the tone for their bright start. Wearing the captain’s armband, The King of Kings towered over the Rangers defenders to set O’Neill’s men onto victory.
Larsson turned provider for the second, winning the ball and playing Pearson in. However, the youngster was foiled by Klos as the ball broke to Thompson. The Englishman took one touch to open the goal up and then fired the ball between two defenders. 2-0 Celtic.
Thompson pulled one back towards the end but Celtic saw it out. A win that extended their lead at the top of the table to 19 points and their unbeaten run to 30 games.
