Video: Henrik’s Hat-trick, Two Decades On

The passage of time is nothing that anyone can stop, though it seems to get faster with age. It’s quite remarkable to think it was almost two decades ago that Henrik Larsson last wore the Hoops in a competitive fixture and that the Celts reached the UEFA Cup Final.

The seeds of Seville were sewn by Martin O’Neill almost immediately after his arrival at the club. A treble was clinched in the Irishman’s first season at the helm and then the likes of John Hartson were added to bolster his squad.

Exactly two decades ago today, O’Neill’s Celtic side demolished Dunfermline 5-0 at Paradise. The King of Kings scored a hat-trick, while Hartson and Agathe etched their names onto the scoresheet. It was a stunning performance and a sign of what was to come just over a year later.
