Video: Hoops train at Lennoxtown ahead of Celtic v St Johnstone

It’s been a tough old week as a Celtic supporter. Losing our League Cup title against Kilmarnock in such a weak and meek fashion last Sunday was not best pleasing. From being totally dominant over everyone at the end of last season to throwing in the towel on that horrible pitch at Rugby Park was soul-destroying.

However, it’s still very early days into Brendan Rodgers’ second tenure at the club and things will take a bit of adjustment for the players, who have been so used to playing a certain way under Ange Postecoglou that it’s almost ingrained. It will take time; persistance and perseverance made a bishop out of his reverence, as the saying goes, and that is what we all have to do. Be patient.

Things are looking up on the transfer front with the news that a bid had been accepted for winger, Luis Palma, and that personal terms won’t be an issue. It’s merely a case of waiting it out until he’s here in front of us holding a green and white scarf on that hallowed turf at Celtic Park. The first of many more, hopefully.

Next up is St Johnstone at Paradise and a real chance to put the pressure of Mick Beale and his newly assembled team. Fresh off of the back of that taxing UEFA Champions League Play-off against Dutch giants PSV, they face the horrible task of facing Malky MacKay and his dogged and determined Ross County side up in the Highlands this weekend.

That one is an early kick-off and if they falter in any way, we have the chance to take full advantage of it and really turn up the heat before we travel to Ibrox next weekend. Nothing is ever a given, so we must not be expecting any favours from the Staggies. On the whole though, they usually always give a good game whenever us or theRangers are in town.

Watch us train ahead of tomorrow’s match with the Saints…

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
