Video – It was Twenty Years Ago Today when the Martin O’Neill era got off to a great start

IT WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO TODAY. Dundee United 1 Celtic 2 and the Martin O’Neill era had started very well indeed.

A great goal from Henrik Larsson and a debut winner from Chris Sutton kick started the beginning of two decades of dominance for Celtic. Here’s what happened…

Some supporter comments on this game…

“Remember It well, 6pm on the Sunday night, great debut from Sutton. Billy McNeil was just a few rows from us that night as well. Was the start of a great partnership of Sutton and Larsson.”

“6 o’clock kick off on the Sunday if memories right. Strange but even at the time it just felt huge, like something was changing. Another late winner at Dens tho from Agathe later that season just confirmed it was a different Celtic now.”

“20 years!! I was just a pup going to every game at that point!”

“Some tremendous celebrations from Henrik & MON!”

The Celtic team that started it the two decades of Celtic Dominance was Gould, Stubbs, Valgaeren, Boyd, Mahe, McNamara, Lambert, Berkovic (Johnson 64), Petrov, Larsson, Sutton. Subs Not Used: Kerr, Petta, Tebily, Burchill.
