Video – James Forrest’s Easter Road Screamer Last March

He can take your breath away one week and frustrate the next, thus he can divide opinion. Be that as it may, nobody can doubt the talent that James Forrest possesses, nor can they argue with his impressive goal and assist stats.

The Celtic winger has been a virtual ever-present in Celtic’s eight in a row, treble treble winning team and he has been known to pop up with some crucial goals on the big stage. Shaktar Karagandy at home, Lazio away, Ajax at home and Cluj away spring to mind. Outside of the European arena, Forrest has also scored goals such as the winner in the 2015 Scottish League Cup final, the third goal in Celtic’s league title clincher against ‘Rangers’ at Paradise, an 86th minute winner against ‘Rangers’ to pretty much guarantee the league title last season and a host of other vital finishes.

One such goal came in the Scottish Cup quarter final at Easter Road last season. The game was Neil Lennon’s second in charge, since his return to the club, and it was a tricky proposition given that Brendan Rodgers has shaken the club at a time when Celtic were chasing a historic treble treble.

The match was tense with a goalless first half. It took a moment of magic from James Forrest to break the deadlock in the 62nd minute, when he struck this belter into the top corner:

With Celtic in the ascendancy, the Hoops sought a second which duly arrived when Scott Brown smashed home from inside the area to hand the club a 2-0 victory on the road and put them into the cup semi final.
