Video – Jeremie Frimpong’s great gesture goes viral

Former Celtic player Jeremie Frimpong has been praised after his video went viral giving a young fan his shirt during a game. Frimpong, 21, was an instant hit in Glasgow after arriving for the famous Manchester City academy in 2019 for peanuts. His lightening pace and infectious personality immediately made him a fans favourite at Celtic Park.

He went from strength to strength in such a short space of time that a big move to Germany came calling and we made a tidy profit moving the Dutchman on during the winter transfer window of 2020, during our darkest period of the last decade or so. Bayer Leverkusen would be the club that acquired his services with a chance to play in the Bundesliga a massivw opportunity for the young full-back.

His form has been such that he is now on the radar of even bigger clubs – with Manchester United manager Erik Ten Haag reportedly eyeing up a January swoop for the nippy defender. A move which could net the Bhoys another fee after inserting a sell-on clause in the deal that took him to Bavaria.

Now a video has emerged of Jeremie comforting a young Bayer 04 fan, after the player accidentally hit the ball of his face as he was going to take a corner. Visibly upset, Jeremie tried to console the youngster and then gave him his match shirt during play to help soothe the blow.

The boy’s mum and dad were extremely grateful for the gesture and the player received a round of applause from the German support in his effort to make amends for his mistake.

Watch Jeremie give this young fan his shirt in a heart-warming gesture:

Oh my days!

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
