As Celtic battered Everton yet failed to come up with that elusive deciding strike to nab a win in Australia at the Sydney Super Cup, tens of thousands of fanatical Celtic supporters had descended upon the Accor Stadium in the glorious sunshine. The official attendance was 41,121 and the vast majority were Celtic minded.
Ange Postecoglou was far more pleased this time around with the performance after an underwhelming display against Sydney FC mid-week. A 0-0 final result wasn’t the worst but we eventually lost on penalties which is always disappointing when you dominate a game that should have been won.
But we’ve done what we set out to do and make sure that valuable game time was secured for our players. It was especially good to give fringe men and younger players a shot at impressing the boss. Although Ange will no doubt be dying to get back to domestic football as soon as possible with his assertion being that ‘We Never Stop’.
One lucky Celtic fan got the surprise and dream of a lifetime when Jota came over to his section at the final whistle to give him his shirt. Clearly over the moon, the youngster looked to be sitting with his mum at the time and she was just as delighted that the Portuguese winger singled them out for this lovely gesture.
Take a look.
