Video: Jurgen Klopp’s Season review shows Celtic how Liverpool comfortably interacts with Fan Media

Liverpool like Celtic have had to endure a difficult season without their fans and both clubs, Champions last year, will end this season empty handed as far as winning trophies are concerned.

How both clubs interact with their own fan media is perfectly illustrated in this video. Here the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp appears on The Anfield Wrap to review a difficult and disappointing season, speaking directly to the Liverpool fans, openly and honestly about what has gone wrong this season. The German manager opened up on the difficulty of playing without a crowd at Anfield and how much he is looking forward to spectators returning in future.

Celtic Fan Media is just as strong – if not stronger than Liverpool’s – yet Celtic have so far held three ‘test’ events allowing numerous representatives of the fan media, to ask one question in conferences with Interim Manager John Kennedy, midfielder David Turnbull and Celtic FC Women right back Jodie Bartle (for that one most of fans media chaps had very limited knowledge of the women’s game).

Dominic McKay has a background in Communications. During his time at Scottish Rugby he’d appear on various podcasts himself, updating the supporters on developments within the game. The fear is by starting early at Celtic, he’s railroaded into following the same old methods that have held Celtic back.

The mainstream media used to have an important role for big football clubs, like Celtic, Liverpool and many others. However the media landscape has changed enormously in recent times and the combined reach of the fan media at clubs like Liverpool and Celtic provides a new, more direct way to communicate with the supporters.

Liverpool get it, Celtic are miles behind, still rather strangely given the way that they are treated by the MSM, loyal to their ‘pals’ in the press. Tomorrow afternoon there’s another Fan Media Press Conference with Scott Brown ahead of his final game for the club at the weekend.

Hopefully come 1 July things will begin to change at Celtic. Here’s how Liverpool FC are currently interacting with their club’s fan media…
