Video: “Make sure you don’t Cave,” Celtic’s Lisa Robertson on Glasgow Derby win over the Rangers

“We are really proud of our performance. It was hard-fought but we are absolutely delighted to get the three points,” Celtic’s Player of the Match Lisa Robertson told Celtic TV after the crucial 1-0 win over the Rangers at Celtic Park* last night.

The three points drags Celtic right back into the mix for both the SWPL1 title and one of the two Champions League places available to the Scotland’s top division. Celtic are now just two points behind theRangers and five adrift of Glasgow City but crucially these two have to play each other twice, with Celtic having just one more game against each title rival.

This was Celtic’s second 1-0 win of the covid-delayed campaign this season but the Hoops have also suffered their only two defeats of the season to league leaders Glasgow City, who incidentally have lost just once and that was to theRangers. So the top three are dropping points in these title tussle matches and there is therefore advantage for Celtic in having fewer of these games remaining. Hopefully you are following that!

With the better weather coming in and with fans being allowed to attend games in June – this SWPL1 campaign runs with two games a week until 6 June – then surely there is logic in Celtic ditching the humble and frankly inadequate surrounds of K-Park in East Kilbride and play all remaining home games at Celtic Park.

Celtic FC Women are at home to Hibs on Sunday (kick-off 2pm) , the men’s team aren’t playing, so why is Celtic Park not being used for this match?  There is also the danger that the team suffers a reaction of going back to the terrible plastic pitch in comparison to the much greenery at Celtic Park and outside the top three Hibs are a dangerous opponent, who will be smarting for revenge after Celtic’s big win in Edinburgh at the end of last year.

Hibs lost narrowly to Glasgow City last night so Sunday is no foregone conclusion. We’ll try our best as usual to cover the game.

And as soon as fans are allowed to return why not allow season ticket holders access to Celtic Park to support this exciting young Celtic FC Women’s team?

*Sorry we couldn’t be there to cheer you on last night Ghirls, it was a decision taken by the Media and Marketing folk at a club like no other….
