Video: On This Day, the Lustig anthem is born

On This Day in 2017, Leigh Griffiths scored a wonderful free-kick in Dingwall as Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic extended their unbeaten run over Owen Coyle’s Ross County. A stubborn Staggies defence thwarted Celtic for large periods of the game but Griffiths dispatched a late free-kick into the top corner to bring the three points back down from the Highlands.

However, the game is best remember as the day that Swedish full-back Mikael Lustig finally got rewarded with a song by the Celtic support. The loveable right-back was the subject of a ditty coined by the travelling support to the tune of Atomic Kitten’s ‘Whole Again’.

Lustig was a stalwart at Celtic. The Swede was signed on a free transfer from Rosenborg in the January transfer window of 2012 and went on to spend seven and a half years with the then Scottish Champions. The Sweden International was revered by the Celtic support for his spirited displays on the park as well as getting what the club was all about off the park.
