Video: Paul McStay’s Superb Volley Helps Celtic Earn Ibrox Win, On This Day 1988

On this day in 1988, Celtic registered a crucial win at Ibrox.

The scoring was opened by Paul McStay, who struck a stunning left footed volley into the corner of the net from the edge of the box. Rangers later drew level, but Andy Walker was on hand to give Celtic a 2-1 victory 11 minutes from time.

The result put Celtic six points clear of Rangers, a healthy lead in the days of two points for a win.

    Possibly the best victory i ever saw at ibrox as we were fantastic especially in the second half were it was physical and lots of crunching tackles were given and taken and knowing a victory was essential we fought hard and got the win.
    I was in howdens on paisley rd west that night and what a party it was..
