Video: Shocking Moment Rangers Were Allowed To Kick Off While Celtic Players Were Celebrating, On This Day 1993

On this day in 1993, one of the most shocking refereeing decisions in Scottish football history took place. Celtic hosted Rangers in a tense derby tussle, and after John Collins put the Hoops ahead, Andy Paton doubled the lead.

As more than half a dozen Celtic players went to celebrate Paton’s goal in front of the Jungle, the referee allowed Rangers to restart the match and the ‘Gers broke away from the kick off. It was 11 v 3 for a moment, but somehow the visitors squandered the opportunity.

Fortunately, this shocking decision didn’t lead to anything and Celtic won the game 2-1.
