Video: The Friday night when Charlie Mulgrew had Kris Boyd in his back pocket

A second half Kris Commons hat-trick gave Celtic the points as the travelling Celtic support enjoyed a rare taste of Friday night football, on this day in 2014. This game also saw a Celtic debut for Liam Henderson and there was a contest between Kilmarnocks blue-nosed striker Kris Boyd and Charlie Mulgrew with the Celtic defender coming out on top and ensuring that once again Boyd would fail to score against the Hoops.

The Celtic side was Forster, Matthews, Izaguirre Johansen (Boerrigter), Ambroses, Mulgrew, Brown, Commons, Stokes, Griffiths (Pukki) and Henderson (Kayal) and the Celtic fans as usual making up the vast majority of the crowd for our visits to Rugby Park certainly enjoyed their Friday night.  The attendance was given as 7,495.

Also on this day in 1992 a John Collins goal was enough to give Celtic the win over Aberdeen at Celtic Park. While  these were difficult times for Celtic,  have a look at the size of the crowd in the old Celtic when Collins scores the winner. And remember if the Celtic end was that busy then the Jungle would have been absolutely packed!

The Celtic team on this day in 1992 that defeated Aberdeen 1-0 at Celtic Park was as follows:

Marshall, Morris, Boyd, Fulton (O’Neill), Mowbray, Gillespie, Miller, P McStay, Coyne, Crainey and Collins.
