Video: Watch Hoops train at Lennoxtown

Celtic take on St Mirren in the Fifth Round of the Scottish Cup this evening at Celtic Park, with a 5.30pm start pencilled in the diary. The Hoops are on quite the momentous winning-streak of late and will be looking to maintain that this Saturday night by booking a place in the Scottish Cup Quarter-final.

Last time out, we put Dougie Imrie and his Greenock Morton side to the sword at home – firing five goals past their rearguard without reply. St Mirren will pose a stronger threat tonight and have already proven that if Celtic are not at their imperious best, there will be opportunities for opposing teams to threaten our hegemony in Scottish football.

Ange Postecoglou will no doubt be wary of the dangerous nature of domestic cup football and will have his eyes on winning a trophy that somehow eluded him last season, despite being the far better team on the day. That will have a personal achievement needing to be ticked off for the current Celtic boss and St Mirren will be another challenge on the road to Hampden once more.

We defeated Stephen Robinson’s men heavily on the cinch Premiership league back on 18 January. Goals from Liel Abada, Kyogo Furuhashi, and David Turnbull were enough to see the Bhoys claim a comprehensive victory of the opposition on that occasion but the Cup always poses an entirely different threat to Celtic.

The media team have released footage of the team training before the big kick-off later on this evening and you can watch that below…

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
