As the Celtic supporters gathered in Cluj-Napoca ahead of this evening’s Europa League match against CFR Cluj, they probably didn’t expect that they’d end up meeting their city rivals.
Universitatea Cluj are in the second division of Romanian football; although are regarded as one of the most successful in the Transylvania region as CFR Cluj have spent most of their existence in the lower levels of Romanian football.
Bucharest based journalist Emanuel Rosu captured the moment they met on camera.
One Universitatea player told the Celtic fans as they posed for photos that he had played against the Scottish Champions with Astana.
CLASS!!! Celtic's fans were greeted in Cluj by Universitatea's players. Universitatea is the main team in Cluj, despite the fact that they play in the Romanian 2nd league. pic.twitter.com/7rFHv1CZjT

Universitatea are currently in their centenary year and will be hoping to promoted this season to compete with their city rivals, who have spent a fair amount of money to become champions.
