“We only have ourselves to blame,” Neil Lennon, “I need a performance and we definitely need a win”

Both the MSM and the Celtic support including the vibrant fans media, have the gloves off when it comes to Neil Lennon’s future as Celtic manager and the disgraceful performance of his players on Thursday night when the embarrassed the Hoops in that shameful 4-1 defeat to a makeshift Sparta Prague second team.

It’s fair to say that anything less that a win tomorrow at Fir Park will be a tipping point for the support and action to replace Neil Lennon will have to be taken. And that is something that every player who is involved tomorrow needs to know and appreciate.

The official Celtic site has just posted an article featuring the manager’s comments ahead of the trip to Fir Park. Usually the clubs own site tends to stay clear of the more controversial incidents and comments, leaving that to the old and more recently the new media to deal with.

Neil Lennon, as has widely been reported this morning, has had plenty to say on the performance of his players on Thursday night, as we reported this morning HERE. But how far did the official Celtic site go in covering these very frank managerial observations? Let’s have a look…

The headline reads “Neil Lennon – We must put on a performance against Motherwell” and quotes the Celtic manager as follows: “After a performance like Thursday, you’re going to be under scrutiny and under the spotlight. I need a performance and we definitely need a win.

“We only have ourselves to blame for this pressure. With performances like the one against Sparta Prague you’re going to get criticised and, this time, I think it’ll be justified.

“We have to find a level of consistency with the performance, not just as a team but individually as well. We have to knuckle down, start playing properly and do the nuts and bolts, the basics of the game.

“It’s important to finish the international break well. and it’s important to win the game because we’ve got a bit of catching up to do in the league I don’t want to keep chopping and changing the team, but necessity may dictate that.”

Niall J outlined the situation perhaps a little more clearly last night on The Celtic Star and you can read that below.
