“We’ve been top of the pile for the last decade,” Rogic’s excellent putdown to title pressure question

Tom Rogic was excellent as Celtic beat Motherwell 4-0 and the Australian playmaker fronted the Sky Sports questions at full-time, with Ange Postecoglou’s men extending their lead at the top until at least this evening. Rogic replaced Matt O’Riley in the starting XI after returning from International Duty with Australia as Celtic impressed.

When asked about whether his teammates would be able to cope with the pressures of being league leaders, Rogic brilliantly dismissed the question rightfully pointing out that Celtic have been the dominant side for the last decade.

“We’ve been top of the pile for the last decade. Obviously last season was disappointing, but it’s a familiar position for a lot of us and it’s about keeping working hard and not getting too carried away with it.

“Everyone was watching us after the result in midweek so it was important we backed it up.

“We’ve been doing that for a good few months now, and we’ve been getting some consistency together.

“We’re playing well and maybe now people will start taking a bit more notice.

Having missed the wins over Hearts, Dundee United and Rangers, Rogic was keen to make up for lost time and a brilliant brace. His first goal of the afternoon was an excellent left-footed effort which curled into the top corner. Rangers look set to reduce the gap back to 1 point ahead of an important week of Cinch Premiership action. Celtic travel to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen whilst Rangers host the other half of the Edinburgh two, Hibernian.

Rogic was an integral part of the Quadruple Treble sides of the past but he has forced himself back into the first team picture at Celtic under Postecoglou. The reinvigorated Rogic has been a joy to watch this season and appears to only get better with each game, much like some of his teammates.

  1. All the moaning the Hearts manager does about decisions and his team go to Liebrox and don’t try a leg? Wonder what he’ll have to say?
