When Gorgios Giakoumakis met Kieran Tierney in the United States

Former Celtic stars, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Kieran Tierney swapped shirts after Arsenal played a pre-season friendly match in the USA. The Gunners are currently away on their own equivalent of the Hoops’ Japan Tour across North America and they have come up against a former Celtic star.

Giorgos Giakoumakis of course played for Celtic between 2021 and 2023, having a great impact under our old boss, Ange Postecoglou. However, the Greek striker became frustrated at not being the number one choice under the big man and subsequently angled for a move away.

That move came in January of this year as the attacker departed Parkhead to the MLS with Atlanta United and we replaced him with South Korean forward, Hyeon-gyu Oh. Suffice to say, we have managed to carry on regardless as we swept aside all of Scottish football once again to do a clean sweep and win another Treble.

After the MLS All-Stars were on the receiving end of a 5-0 spanking by the team that finished second in the English Premier League last season, it gave our former Bhoys the chance to exchange jerseys after the match had finished.

It looks like both Bhoys were very pleased to have the chance to swap their respective team’s colours.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
