Why Rangers News shouldn’t get too excited Rogic missing out on Ibrox

THAT RANGERS NEWS site is delighted at the news that Tom Rogic is not now available to play at Ibrox on Saturday. You can understand why they fear the big man, given the damage that he dishes out to them but they shouldn’t get too excited. Maybe they’ll calm down by the time they start posting on their ‘Celtic’ site?

It’s disappointing decision by the Australian FA and it obviously will affect Hibs more than Celtic as they are losing 3 players for their Edinburgh Derby against the free-falling Hearts.

As for Celtic’s midfield, there are plenty of options available. Rogic played well yesterday and can turn his undivided attention to a Man of the Match performance at Pittodrie before flying out to Dubai to await the arrival of his international team-mates.

Olivier Ntcham – the Rangers will remember him from September – had an excellent game against Dundee. So too did Callum McGregor. Those two will play.

So with Rogic out Celtic can bring skipper Scott Brown into the side – he sat out yesterday in all likelihood he was being kept in reserve for the challenges ahead this coming week.

Oh and we have Ryan Christie. There were Zombie celebrations when he was injured and effectively ruled out for the rest of the year after suffering what looked like a bad injury against Salzburg in the Europa League – on the night we qualified for the Knock-out round having won 3 of our 6 matches.

How many did they win ‘On their Way’ again?

Christie re-appeared yesterday as a substitute and looked awesome. He’s fit, he’s hungry and he’s looking to do a bit of Skelping himself.

Celtic also have these players, unavailable yesterday, all returning and will be ready for Ibrox.

Dedryck Boyata – scored at Ibrox* – tick (Final score the Rangers 1 Celtic 5)

Kieran Tierney – scored at Ibrox* – not yet

Mikael Lustig – scored at Ibrox* – tick (Final score the Rangers 1 Celtic 5)

Odsonne Edouard – scored at Ibrox* – tick (Final score the Rangers 2 Celtic 3)

*All goals referred to have been scored against the club founded by Charles Green, here’s his Christmas video…
