Wonderful, beautiful, magical: Scott Sinclair excited at Celtic Park reunion

Preston North End rock up to the East End of Glasgow on Saturday for a pre-season friendly; and there is a former Celtic hero amongst the ranks in Central Lancashire; our former lightning winger, Scott Sinclair.

Adored by Celtic fans, and given arguably the best chant ever to grace British football, Scott will return to Celtic Park having graced the hallowed turf from 2016-2020. The winger, 32, made 167 appearances in the famous green-and-white, scoring 62 goals along the way and playing a vital role in the treble-treble.

However, despite his positive impact, he left for the second tier of English football – somewhat a step-down from Celtic – and has excelled at Deepdale in his two seasons there, notching up 51 games, with 12 goals along the way.

A key component of the Brendan Rodgers era, Sinclair enjoyed his best football at Paradise, and it seems the memories still hold strong in his mind, with an admission that he is over the moon to be returning to Celtic Park.

Speaking to pnefc.net, Sinclair admitted he was bursting to return back to Paradise. “I’m really looking forward to it. It seems like a long time since I’ve left and I haven’t been back since, so it’s always great to go back and play at Celtic Park. Obviously there’s 2000 fans, it would have been better to have more in, but it will be great to see some fans as well.”

Sinclair was immense for Celtic, and his deadly partnership on the left of a front-trio which included Moussa Dembele and Patrick Roberts sparked Celtic to their most successful period ever, as he played a huge part in the quadruple-treble.

“I’ve got so many memories of being at Celtic at that time, making so many achievements and winning titles, so that’s always going to be part of me. Going back there is a great opportunity because it wouldn’t have normally happened other than a pre-season game.”

As much as we want Scotty to do well, he’ll be willed to have minimal impact by the 2,000 strong Paradise faithful on Sunday. However, the reception he gets should make all the Bhoys sing…
