“Won’t sign after watching that tripe” : These Celtic fans fear early UCL exit will ruin chances of signing Shane Duffy

One of the biggest selling points for Celtic when it comes to transfers is offering players the chance to win trophies and have an extended run in Europe.

Tonight’s loss against Ferencvaros in the Champions League will hurt for two reasons – the club will have less money to play with, while it also makes Celtic less attractive to potential signings.

You could argue after tonight that the team needs to improve in certain areas, but the centre of defence is starting to become a real problem.

You need competition for places to get the best out of your starters but something has happened to Jullien and Ajer, and they’re starting to look like a weak spot in the team.

Average strikers are getting too much joy against them while they also look scared in possession, so they’re hurting Celtic in more ways than one.

Shane Duffy has been touted as a potential signing for a while now, and The Daily Record have linked him with a move to Glasgow again recently.

Time will tell if the early Champions League exit will scupper the chances of that move, but it’s certainly made these fans less optimistic about signing him:
