It was another Treble at Celtic Park yesterday as three new signings all spoke to the media. So with Maik Nawrocki already covered we’ll now look at what our new winger Hyunjun Yang had to saw before concluding with covering the initial impressions of joining Celtic as explained by our new defensive midfielder Hyeokkyu Kwon.

Here’s what Yang had to say at his first media conference as a Celtic player…

Yang on how it feels to be a Celtic player: “I am very excited. I was always looking for this day and I am so happy that I feel like I am still in a dream.”

Yang on whether he spoke to Oh Hyeon-gyu ahead of joining Celtic:  “Yes. Oh and I have always been good friends. He gave me some good advice such as that I have to be more independent to become strong mentally as a player.”

Yang on whether he has watched Oh playing for Celtic and if his performances for Celtic has inspired him: “Yes. I watched a few matches of Oh and I saw one of his goals where he celebrated and that moment was both inspiring and motivating.”

Yang on looking forward to scoring for Celtic and helping the team win trophies: “I always like stadiums full of fans and I am sure the fans will inspire me to be better offensively.”

Yang on meeting Oh for the first time: “I first met him before the World Cup. I am kind of a shy person but Oh was very friendly and he was taking care of me. He was making some jokes and we went to some cafes and restaurants.”

Yang on looking forward to Oh and others helping him settle in at Celtic: “Oh and Kwon will both take good care of me and I think they are good examples of good players and I am sure I can learn a lot from them and I am sure I can settle in.”

Yang on his biggest strengths as a player: “One of my strengths is dribbling. I am a very team-driven person. When there is an open space, I always try to offer offensive chances and I also try to be involved defensively.”

Yang on when he first heard of Celtic’s interest in him: “It was not easy given the situation with my former club but it was definitely worth waiting for.”

Yang on the importance of being at the club for the start of the season: “A lot of players and coaches around me in Korea gave advice that it might be a bit more difficult to adapt in winter so they recommended transferring in summer.”

Yang on what he’s most excited about playing for Celtic: “I am very excited to meet the new manager and team-mates and train with them. I am also looking forward to seeing the fans.”

Next up, it’s our third new Bhoy, Celtic’s new midfielder Hyeokkyu Kwon…

Glad he’s here, also the jersey is growing on me.”…”Not only did Celtic sign a hard-working, team-oriented player, but I get to improve my Korean listening ability. Amazing stuff.”…”Welcome Yang.
