10IAR Boost – Lennon targets deal for Southampton duo

NEIL LENNON is targeting a sensational double transfer swoop for the Southampton duo Moi Elyounoussi and Fraser Forster in a cut-price deal from Southampton.

Reports in the Scottish Sun claim that Southampton are willing to part with the pair for the right price and Celtic could capitalise by signing the pair.

Neil Lennon is hopeful in retaining their services as Celtic go for 10-in-a-row next year. The record-equalling manager will speak to Southampton as well as the players to see if a return to Glasgow appeals to them.

“We’re hopeful they’ll be around but that’s a conversation we’ll have to have with Southampton and the players individually.

“In the main, we’d want to keep them if we could. It kept that continuity going rather than maybe going out and bringing other players in.

“If we could keep the services of those two, they know how we work and what the club is all about.

“They made really good contributions. Fraser was absolutely brilliant and Moey, up until the injury, was fantastic.”

Forster has been exceptional since his return from Southampton, establishing himself as the club’s number one goalkeeper and churning out performance after performance.

Elyounoussi was flying before an injury during the international break back in November hampered his season and was just getting back into his stride when the Coronavirus pandemic stopped games.

Celtic, who were declared 9IAR Champions on Monday, will now look to next season and the chance at creating history by surpassing the record set by Jock Stein in 1974.

Southampton posted £41m losses last year and the Coronavirus pandemic means they may need to sell players in order to bring new faces in and this could open the door for Celtic.

Scott Brown spoke yesterday about his desire to keep the 9IAR winning side together as the club push for 10IAR next year.
