Alan Brazil blasts Alfredo Morelos for ‘cheating’ against Celtic

Alfredo Morelos endured a nightmare against Celtic in the League Cup final as he missed his penalty and wasted chance after chance, helping the Hoops lift an incredible 10th straight domestic title. And Alan Brazil has now blasted the Colombian star for his antics on Sunday.

The Rangers might have dominated the statistics in the League Cup final but all that was for nothing as Celtic walked out with the trophy. The Hoops scored from the only shot they had on target on the night compared to Steven Gerrard’s side who were let down by some wasteful finishing and a superhuman performance from Fraser Forster in goal.

One player who would be in a hurry to forget the final is certainly the Rangers’ star striker, Alfredo Morelos. The Colombian has scored 25 goals already this season and the club’s would have been relying on him to win them the cup. But he proved once again on Sunday that he is not the man for the big occasion as chance after chance went begging and he even missed the chance to equalise from the penalty spot. He is now 11 games without a goal against Celtic.

And it is not only his performance but also his antics that has drawn the ire of Alan Brazil. Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on talkSPORT, the pundit said:

“They’ll never have a one-sided game like that again and get beat.

“Never. Not for a long time – But Morelos, he does my head in.

“I know Ally [McCoist] likes him as a player, but you talk about someone, his middle name is Lionel. He’s always on the deck. He’s always on the deck! He’s a cheat. Simple as that! He just falls over too easy, too easy.

“And he’s a good player, but he has got to stop cheating. It’s as simple as that. I don’t care, I have got that off my chest now.”

There is no question about the fact that Colombian is one to go down on the slightest contact. And it is a miracle as well that he was not booked for all the fouls he committed on Sunday. But after his performance, one can only hope that the Rangers fans will never compare Morelos with Edouard again, who put in a better performance despite being only on the pitch for about 30 minutes and half-fit  as well.
