Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi must be pretty pleased that they managed to escape Southampton and move to Celtic on loan.
While their parent club are being embarrassed on a regular basis, they are challenging for trophies and look like going on a European run too.
We all knew what Forster would bring, but Elyounoussi has proven himself to be an exceptional talent in recent weeks. He had a slightly slow start, but he’s now scoring goals for fun and looks like an absolute menace on that left flank.
It hasn’t taken long for speculation to build over Celtic trying to keep him on a permanent basis. Finances will probably be an issue, The BBC reported Southampton paid £16m to sign him. While Celtic could stump up that cash, it’s hard to say if that would really represent value for money.
Despite that, these fans are clearly desperate to see him stay in Glasgow for longer than just this season:
All I want for Christmas is to sign Elyounoussi 🍀🍀

His stats since joining Celtic have been pretty incredible. Despite playing on the left hand side he’s scored seven goals and been credited with four assists in only ten games.
His goals today came from getting on the end of balls in the box and he’s struck up a brilliant understanding with Edouard that allows them to interchange and link up to devastating effect.
It might turn out that Southampton will try to cash in on him after a decent season. It’s not impossible to see them going down, so they might be willing to accept a lower fee to get him off the books in that case.
It’s still difficult to see a permanent deal being possible, but if he keeps this up then the board might not be left with any choice…
