Excellent Elyounoussi, Brilliant Broony, Unstoppable Celtic

CELTIC dominated this League Cup semi-Final, achieving an incredible 30th domestic cup victory in a row.

Scott Brown told us that he was fit while Neil Lennon tried to keep us and more importantly Hibs guessing by suggesting that his skipper was struggling. Aye struggling for time at end as he looked to complete his hat-trick!

Yet Hibs played well and made a game of it, especially after Elyounoussi had broken the deadlock. Yet the conceded five, had the inside of both posts to thank for it not being seven and got lucky in being able to say they denied Odsonne Edouard the goal his play deserved.

A word too about Jeremie Frimpong – who has replaced Stuart Armstrong in the ‘His Hair is Fine’ Song – try it! It’s great. What a player we have with this fast, skilful and clever footballer.

The Hibs support was small but they tried their best to rally their team as they desperately tried to hold onto Celtic’s coattails. Their side forced Celtic to go three at the back, with two wing backs Frimpong and Hayes who replaced Bolingoli at the interval and may well feature in Rome.

The Celtic support was superb from start to finish and made sure our captain was cheered loudly and everyone reminded that Jamesy Forrest was here for ten in a row.

The goals are described below.

The Celtic Star Man of the Match – Elyounoussi very unlucky not to have got his Hat-trick on his first trip to Hampden. Maybe next time Mo?

Mon the Jam Tarts!

GOAL! 17 Mins – Jamesy Forrest crosses into the back-post and Elyounoussi makes no mistake! 1-0.

GOAL! 21 Mins – Jullien with a wonderful pass to his fellow Frenchman. Odsonne Edouard then chips the ball to McGregor who slots it away! 2-0.

Goal – 36 Mins – Goal for Hibs, they pull one back through Hallberg against the run of play after a bizarre pass-back from Bolingoli. 2-1.

GOAL! 44 Mins – Edouard is the creator once again as he puts it on a plate for Elyounoussi and the Hoops, once more, lead by two! 3-1.

HALF TIME Celtic 3 – Hibs 1

GOAL! 55 Mins – Scott Brown blasts the ball into the Hibs net from close range from an Elyounoussi corner. 4-1.

Goal – 57 Mins – Kamberi heads home after a fine cross from the right wing. 4-2.

GOAL! 90 Mins – Scott Brown leads his team in the attack, plays a one-two with Elyounoussi and then puts the ball away in the second attempt!

The captain’s on a hat-trick!! 5-2.
